Resilient lighting Options: LED Downlights

LED lights are the most technologically sophisticated kinds of lights that people can get today. However, LED lights are not just reserved for fancy flashlights and cellphone screens. It used to be that this light's only known use was being an indicator light for new phone models.

When an electrical current passes through a conductor like tungsten, it gives off a great amount of light in certain conditions and this is how incandescent bulbs work. However, the cost of replacing bulbs plus the labor and time needed to replace them are too steep for people to handle. When you take into account settings like buildings and skyscrapers with a large number of bulbs the maintenance costs can add up.

The unique way that LED lights function is advantageous in so many ways. Unlike bulbs, light emitting diodes have a process that flow in only a single direction. Light is emitted by the diode when a current passes through it and incites the atoms to an energy level that allows it to glow.

LED lights were used only as indicator lights because they were not intense enough for larger functions. But as technology and manufacturing methods improved through the years, the LED became a preferred light source. In fact the Global Arena, the CN tower, the Singapore Flyer an many more famous buildings are lit using LED light fixtures.

LED downlighters use energy efficiently and they are also less prone to breaking down. These types of lights use power sources that go anywhere from 4-31 watts. A good approximation of its energy efficiency is the fact that LED lights use only about 20% of the energy needed for fluorescent lights to function.

Although buying LED lights is undoubtedly more expensive, they will cost less in the long run. They are known to function for 25,000 to 75,000 hours of straight use. The savings you can accumulate on energy bills alone means that the lights can pay for themselves in about one to two years.

You might be interested to note that LED lights are not the ultimate fixture on energy consumption because LED downlights are even more efficient. Downlights release lumen when wattage is introduced into the diode component. More lights get activated when less energy is used and this is the unique way that downlights function.

However, buying LED products is a little bit different from buying your ordinary lights. LED lights should be based on the lumen output and not on the wattage. In addition, downlights are built according to a fitting or a frame.

Despite what many people think, LEDs are not prone to heating. Compared to a halogen or fluorescent light, downlights can be cool to the touch even when left on for long hours. Downlights also work well even for cold climates and conditions.

LED downlights are projected to one day bring light to our homes and everyday spaces. They have great features that make them ideal for residential and industrial use. Expect LED downlights to be used in various settings and for numerous applications.
